Hard at Work

10/16/18

It has been quite the week. In an overwhelming and positive sense. I had a lot of make up work to complete this week and I have a feeling this is how my senior year is going to look like. ISM and choir have been taking me out of school and I enjoy the time I have with those activities. The only downside is, just because I spend more time choir and ISM, doesn’t mean that I can push aside the work from my other classes. The other day, while I was working, I was thinking about all these amazing ideas to include in my project, but I had to push myself to stop wondering about ISM because I had a boat load to finish for my other classes since I have been missing them.

Other than the truck load of work to complete, I had an amazing Tuesday. I interviewed a neurologist at UT southwestern, and we talked for around 3 hours! It was so incredible. We discussed all about tau proteins, current research, steps to become a good researcher, and much more. I learned a ton just from that one sitting. I asked him to be my mentor the day after, and he said he would! Now I just need to wait till he fills out the background check, and then It is mentor visits for the rest of the year!! I’m extremely excited to go to the labs and see what all happens. I can't wait!
